We camped this week! Well, not technically, but we did have fun pretending that we did! We made a pop up tent in drama and added sticks, marshmallows and fire (of course all fake and toys, but SO fun!). We added flashlights and dimmed the lights to pretend it was night and we could see fireflies and owls. For art, we made paper lanterns, painted with fire colors and drew ourselves while camping. We will be painting with marshmallows and experimenting with the texture and size as we use different marshmallows for the activity. We played camping bingo and a listening game to put the camper: in, under, next to, on top, in the middle and between the tents. This was a game to see if we knew positional words and if we would pay attention to what the teacher is instructing. For math, we used the ten frames and counted out bears! We also made (paper) smores with dotted graham crackers, written number word marshmallows and numbers for the chocolate…if you got all three squares, you made a smore! Our sensory bin has been filled with dirt and all things nature! Each time we went out, we collected more! We had many, many leaves, pinecones, small rocks and so much dirt! What a fun table this was all week! We also started our indoor garden and we have spinach and tomatoes growing already! Outside, we think our cucumbers are coming up! We may just have some future gardeners on our hands! We are excited to see what comes up and when we get to snack on all of it!
