Lakewood Child Care Center

It’s superheroes week throughout the center and while it may mean caped crusaders in most of the rooms, in our room, it can be just about the people that take care of our little ones every day.  We have been reading books about everything from firefighters, to policemen, to our own mommies and daddies.  They have watched career puppets telling them stories, colored on a big piece of paper with friends, and tossed soft balls into a laundry basket to dump out again.  Puzzles have been out to explore, conversations have been happening on their phones, and they have dropped popsicle sticks into coffee cans.  Songs have been sung, chalking  on chalkboards has happened and pulling pop poms out of whisk has been a lot of fun.  Letting go of toys into a large tube is a developmental activity that they all really enjoy and it is fun to watch them realize that the toys come out the other end to play the game again!  We have several new friends that joined us this week so they are getting acclimated to their teachers and the room so we have incorporated many of our activities with them in mind, to help them relax and transition easier.  There have been stacking rings out to explore and to sit one on one with a teacher to show them what they can do with these interesting toys, they have been given ribbons and scarves to shake, they have danced with the teachers with all kinds of fun music, peek-a-boo has been played, and bubbles have been seen.  Reaching for toys is still being practiced as is sitting and walking.  It has been a busy week but we have found that not all superheroes wear capes!  Next week promises to just as much fun!
