Lakewood Child Care Center

We are celebrating Father’s day all week long throughout the center and in our room we have been hard at work identifying daddies in pictures and pointing them out and listening to stories about them from all around the globe.  All of our children have played outside in some fashion this week and it has been so nice to have them get out and feel the warmth and sunshine.  There have been activities with bean bags to dump and toss, paper to color on, bubbles to watch being blown, and learning how to operate the pop-up toys.  They have danced with scarves and ribbons, and dropped pom-poms through paper towel tubes.  Our smaller and younger babies have been figuring out how to make sounds with shakers, peeling masking tape off high chair trays, playing peek-a-boo with scarves, listening to puppets and exploring nesting cups.  There have been fun songs to dance to, music to practice hand movements with, and pretend fabric tool boxes and tools to practice “building” things.  It has been a fun week to focus on one of the most important people in their lives while they show their happiness and silliness in everything they do.  We also start swimming this week so we are so excited for that and can’t wait to get them outside to splash and play.  Next week promises to bring a lot more so we are looking forward to what it brings!
