This week’s theme was 🎄 Christmas in July! ☀️ and it brought festive cheer to the classroom—sunshine and Santa style! The children had a blast exploring all things merry and bright while developing new skills across learning domains.

🗣 Language Development:
We dove into holiday-themed books, explored Christmas vocabulary with pictures, colored with crayons, decorated Christmas tree cutouts, placed felt pieces on our Christmas felt board, and even practiced writing using boogie boards.

🔢 Math Fun:
We matched colorful ornaments and sorted Christmas trees by color. These activities helped the children practice early categorizing and visual discrimination skills.

🔬 Science Exploration:
The classroom smelled sweet and snowy as we mixed ingredients to make sugar cookies and created our own “snow” through sensory science play!

🏃 Motor Development:
We galloped like reindeer around the patio, decorated a Christmas tree with stickers, played tag, and decorated cookies—building both fine and gross motor skills while having tons of fun.

💞 Social & Emotional Growth:
The children giggled through a round of Christmas hot potato and sang holiday songs while shaking jingle bells together, encouraging teamwork and joyful group participation.

🎨 Creative Arts:
Our budding artists painted Christmas trees and glued on buttons, experimented with painting using pinecones, rolled ornaments around in boxes to create abstract prints, and painted with sand for a new sensory experience.

Looking Ahead:
Tomorrow, we’ll wrap up our festive week by:

  • “Writing” our names on Christmas cards ✍️
  • Manipulating math tiles 🔢
  • Hopping across present cutouts 🎁
  • Labeling family members in social studies 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
  • Gluing recycled paper onto a tree for a sustainable spin on our holiday art 🎄♻️

We hope your weekend is full of sunshine and just a little bit of holiday magic!
