It’s music week throughout the center and it has been fun listening to different types of music – all with different tempos and instruments for them to hear. They have had their own set of bongo drums to play as well as tambourines and maracas. They have also listened to us sing familiar songs such as Old MacDonald and Itsy, Bitsy Spider using our puppets. They have watched us use our felt hand puppet to make words using our alphabet letters, while we sang the song and gave them words that the letters began with, a favorite being bubble. Some are practicing building blocks as high as they can make them, and then laughing as they push them down, to then start all over again. The older children were able to help us “clean” the classroom with wash clothes (they absolutely loved this) and crawl through a tunnel to see their friends on the other side. The older children are also working on kicking and rolling balls back and forth which we are helping them try while they are outside playing. Puzzles, shape sorters, the parachute, scarves and ribbons, and the pegboards have all been out for different activities during the week as well. All of this while developmental skills are continuously being practiced and praised. Another exciting week is coming to a close and we are all eager to see what next week brings.
