It was all about music this week and we had so much fun listening to different kinds of music with various instruments. We learned 5 new words this week. We learned the letters in these words: microphone, violin, piano and trumpet (suggested words by the children). We learned how to sign the word ‘music’. For art, we made a piano, put black dots on music lines, and water colored over music sheets. For math, we sorted buttons and found all of the black ones, just like the black music notes we learned about. We also threw bean bags (large motor work) to land on the numbered musical notes on the floor. For a language activity, we traced the word ‘music’ with gems to work on our eye-hand coordination and spelling. In the drama area, we added scarves and microphones to put on our own performances. Miss Tara played DJ all week as we had the children put in special requests for their favorite songs and we would play them on a CD or asked Alexa to play the song. We learned about favorite singers and where we like to listen to music the most (most children said in the car!). Our field trips included a trip to Rocky River Nature Center on Tuesday and a musical trip to Lemon Seeds on Thursday. We ended that day with a trip to Madison Park. The week will wrap up with more music and fun with adding scarves to some parachute play while we play some of our favorite music.
