L-E-G-O! The best toy that was ever invented! This week the children enjoyed their time playing with LEGO of all different sizes. At the beginning of the week, we discussed the history of the LEGO. Did you know that the LEGO has been around since the 1930’s. Ole Kirk Christiansen was the individual who founded and patented LEGO. He began as a Danish carpenter and created wooden toys before using plastic and creating the LEGO. Did you also know that LEGO has a meaning? Yes it means “plays well.” From there, the children were off to play with the small LEGO to the Duplo LEGO. The children worked on number recognition, making patterns and building towers of different heights at the math table. At the language table, the children worked on letter recognition using the Duplo LEGO all week. At the art table, the children stamped and painted with LEGO and even created their own mini LEGO character face. We had two field trips this week which included Impett Park and South Mastick Park…our summer is slowly coming to an end but we will make sure we make the best of it! The children had their swim day on Wednesday as well. We also took some time to discuss our feelings about starting Kindergarten in a few weeks. There was a majority of those saying they were both excited and nervous at the same time. We discussed that this is normal but they are off to bigger and better things! We will truly miss them all! We hope that the children enjoyed playing with LEGO all week long and learning a bit of where it came from. We hope that you all have a wonderful and fun weekend.
