It has been a fun week of learning about the different people in our community that is here to help us whenever we need them.  There have been books and songs about firefighters, policemen, and doctors.  The older children have explored the pounding benches, tried on firefighter hats, tossed bean bags into containers, and built with blocks.  We have put pom poms into a whisk for them to practice their fine motor skills and remove them and have given them the ribbon cubes to try and pull blocks out of the center of them to work on the same skills.  They have painted, colored, and stamped.  The nesting cups and the peg boards have been out for all the ages to explore and discover in their own way.  Bubble wrap was felt and walked on as was our scarves.  The large vinyl blocks were out to try and build with and the ice cream pieces were shown on how to stack them and make patterns.  There have been fingerplays and movement songs to listen to and watch and as always lots of snuggles, laughter and fun as they learn to control emotions, develop new skills and interact with the people and friends around them.  Next week promises more of the same with all new ways to discover and explore!
