It has been a week all about our families and we have had so much fun!  Some of our children are noticing their families on the door and will stand up to it and pat at the pictures while babbling and “talking” about who and what they are seeing.  We have read many books about different families and how they all look different but regardless of the structure, the babies are always loved and cherished.  The older children are responding more to movement songs so as soon as “If Your Happy and You Know It’ comes on, they are already clapping.  Many of them are also starting to point to various body features when asked, especially head and belly.  They have stuck leaves to contact paper, shook shakers, dropped sticks into the top of coffee cans, and played peek-a-boo with blankets and scarves.  We also had our feast out in the Great Room with all of the children and had some yummy, amazing food.  They have practiced making marks with chalk and crayons, explored the stacking rings, discovered the nesting cups, and painted with items other than their fingers or brushes.  The youngest in the room have been exploring a sensory book, worked on finding items hidden under something, explored balls, and discovered containers and lids with all the fun noise they can make when banged up and down on the floor.  What a great week to show and learn about the people that love and care about them everyday as well as the friendships they have throughout the center with teachers and children alike.  Next week is Thanksgiving!
