It has been a fun Dino week in preschool. Monday in art the children created Dino tracks by painting with dins making tracks with the Dino’s feet! In language the children matched dinosaur letters and in math they matched color clothespins to the same color Dino to make spikes on the dinosaur. Tuesday in art the children glued dinosaur bones to paper, lots of creativity using spaghetti noodles as bones. In language the children engaged in a dinosaur bingo game and in math the children built dinosaurs with various shapes. Wednesday in art the children explored crayon resist art; they were given oil pastels to draw a picture with and then given watercolors to paint over the drawing. In language the children worked with beginning g letter sounds to match the picture to it’s beginning letter sound. In math the children made play dough Dino eggs and counted them. Today in art the children wanted to explore the paint sticks and we followed their interest for art. In language the children dictated what a T-Rex would do if they brought it to school and in math the children made more play dough Dino eggs to count. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with feather dusters and in math they will sort dinosaur counters on a color graph. In the block area this week we added big dinosaurs and in the sensory table the children worked with dinosaurs in noodles with tongs, bowls and scoops. The drama area is being transitioned into a gift wrapping station and the children’s interest sparked once we put the table back the way it was. They have been working with the concession stand food and trays as we get materials ready for the gift wrapping station. The children have been showing more interest in puzzles so we pulled more puzzles out today, and will keep them out tomorrow as well.
