It has been a theme week all about winter and it is definitely feeling and looking like it outside, which gives a great backdrop for the babies out of our big window, where they can not only see the weather but feel the coldness when they touch the glass.  We have talked about the snow falling and how cold it is outside and that is why put on our coats, hats, and mittens.  We have given them outdoor wear to play with inside and it has been fun to watch some of the older children try to put mittens on their hands, they understand that is where they belong!  They have played with sensory bottles that have winter items in them and shook scarves to winter songs.  There was an obstacle course built in the play yard for them to crawl up and down and over to reach a toy on the other end.  Art activities have had them sticking stickers on paper, coloring on chalkboards, painting with and without brushes, and stamping.  Pop up toys and nesting cups have been out for all ages to discover and explore in their own way, while dropping clothespins into juice bottles has been a fun way for the older children to work on fine motor skills.  There has been a lot of new signing happening and  using their spoon and coming when their name is called is occurring during and after meals.  The balls have been a big hit again this week as has been building block towers with their teachers.  While it has been cold outside, we are staying warm inside and exploring what this winter season is all about and they have had a lot of fun!
