We were so happy to see everyone back and we were ready to jump right into our theme of Out of This World. Our older children were given pieces of foil to wad up and make into balls and then they tried tossing them into baskets. They scribbled with chalk on chalkboards, watched flashlights, and dropped cars down our cardboard tube. All the children explored colorful magnifying glasses, pulled tape off of surfaces, discovered measuring cups and spoons, and rolled balls all over the room. Puppets told stories, songs have been sung (Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star – a favorite), and bubbles have been blown. Developmental activities have included walking with push toys, sitting with pillows behind them, rolling over to reach toys, and pulling themselves up to reach the top of shelves. They have tried their hand at taking sensory balls in and out of the cups of a muffin tin and felt bubble wrap with their feet and hands. They loved dancing to fun music while holding their ribbons, and generally moving their body to favorite songs they are hearing. We have had fun exploring and discovering and next week we move to a theme all about cooking – can’t wait to see what the children will be able to “cook” up for us then.
