It has been a week all about cooking.  Our children played with measuring cups, whisks, and bowls.  They shared plates of pretend food from their kitchen set in the room, and thought it was so funny when the teachers “ate” it.  There have been a lot of art activities involving painting, stamping, and coloring, which all have been able to enjoy in some way.  They have watched bubbles, built with blocks, and had many a conversation on the play telephones.  Our youngest babies are learning to watch faces and track toys that are above them, and have enjoyed listening to stories from our black and white books.  The stacking rings, nesting cups, and discovery boxes have all come out for them to explore.  Using fine motor skills to try and remove popsicle sticks taped to the high chair tray has been done several times by some of our children and most are doing well with it.  They have waved scarves, rolled balls, and played under a parachute.  Coffee cans have become make shift drums as they tap on them with their hands and kitchen utensils.  Our older children played outside and all of the babies have enjoyed exploring the great room.  We had mirror play with the babies as they watched themselves and us.  Finding our friends and body parts has been a fun game with music as has clean up time.  We have been busy mixing things up with our cooking theme and next week promises to be just as much fun!
