It is our Black History them and the children have learned a little about some famous people such as Garrett Morgan who invented the traffic light, Madame CJ Walker who invented the pressing comb, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King Jr; and Barack Obama, just to name a few. Monday in art the children tore red, yellow, and green and glued yo paper. In language the children constructed letters with pipe cleaners and toothpicks, and in math the children matched ties by their patterns. Tuesday in art the children painted with a comb and in language the children practiced writing letters. In math the children explored putting numbers in order 1-10. Wednesday in art the children painted with bubble wrap and in language the matched lower case letters. In math the children rolled a die to count and see how many pom poms to add to a cup. Today in art the children painted with sponges and in language the children matched the names of their peers to their name cards. In math the children matched fruit counters to dots on paper. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with kitchen scrubbers and in language they will look at some pictures and tell a story of their own, In math the children will match pictures of famous o=inventions. The children also continued to share their favorite meal pictures with the class and have been posted on the window, we enjoy bringing their home interests into the classroom to share. In the block area a ramp was added and the children got more creative with the snow boxes/blocks, after a couple days they learned to put the snow boxes under the ramp to make it higher. Lots of problem solving and learning happening. The drama area continues to be a hot spot with cooking and making food for teachers and peers. In the sensory table this week the children worked with water, spoons, cups, tongs, animal counters and ice cubes.
