It has been a fun week learning about what an author is, and a great way to kick off our Book Off! The children have enjoyed all the books we have read so far, and there have been some tough decisions on which book was most liked each day. Monday in art the children  painted a strawberry red and in language the children matched color words. In math the children matched  shapes to dots on a strawberry. Tuesday in art the children glued yarn to paper and in language they wrote letters in a tray of sugar, In math the children matched cotton balls to dots on a mitten. Wednesday in art the children painted with large spools and in language they matched letters to letters on a tree. In math the children explored a 1 to 1 grid with insect counters. Today in art the children painted with a loofah and in language they told stories by using pictures of a person, place and an object. In math the children matched cookie numbers. Tomorrow in art the children will draw people and in language they will match pillows by patterns and in math they will explore what’s alike and different with amounts of crayons in bowls. In the sensory table the children washed bowls and forks with washcloths and soapy water and in the block area the children got creative with brick blocks from the great room. The children have also been busy making hot chocolate and desserts in the drama area. The interest in this area is fizzling out so we will be changing it within the next week.
