What a fun week about Dr. Seuss has been happening in our classroom.  They have the stuffed animals that look like the characters in the books they have been listening to and they are enjoying snuggling up with them.  Fine motor activities have included peg boards, shape sorters, and nesting cups.  Art activities have had them chalking on chalkboards, finger painting, stamps on paper and coloring with crayons.  They have played under the parachute as it moved up and down while listening to silly fun songs.  We have used our sign language cube to watch new signs being made and have shaken shakers to some of their favorite songs.  The youngest babies have been held while the teacher dances to music, creating some cute little smiles.  We have read to them one on one and have blown bubbles above them for them to see.  The book play off continues so they have also had the opportunity to listen to some books they have never heard before.  We have included some name songs throughout the day for the children to start identifying each other as well as themselves.  They were given colorful ribbons to explore while the older ones danced to some fun music.  All have experienced the Great Room to explore and move balls around in different ways.  It has been a fun and silly week of fun and laughs, and next week will have more experiences as we usher the five senses into the room.
