This week’s theme was St. Patrick’s Day, and the children had so much fun exploring shamrocks, rainbows, coins, and all things green through hands-on activities!
🗣 Language Development
We read a variety of St. Patrick’s-themed books 📖, explored shamrock picture vocabulary cards, colored with green crayons ✏️, pulled items out of a basket and named them, and placed rainbows and shamrocks on felt boards—building vocabulary and early literacy skills.
🔢 Math Development
The children practiced counting and sorting by dropping coins into containers 💰 and sorting yellow and green pom-poms—learning to recognize numbers, colors, and comparisons.
🧪 Science
We explored textured shamrocks 🍀 and experimented with magnets on different coins—discovering how materials feel and react to magnetic forces.
🏃 Motor Development
Our little movers blew pom-poms with straws 💨, clipped clothespins onto shamrocks, practiced shamrock yoga 🧘♂️ using yoga cards, and peeled and placed stickers on a poster board—building both fine and gross motor skills.
😊 Social & Emotional Development
We explored different emotions using shamrock cards, and used glitter jars during calm-down moments 🌟—helping children identify feelings and practice self-regulation.
🎨 Art
The children got creative with shamrock sponge painting, glued foil onto “pots of gold” ✨, made tape-resistant rainbows, and used bingo daubers on rainbow cutouts—mixing colors, textures, and fun!
✨ Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:
- Language Development: Label friends with picture cards 🏷️
- Math: Compare big and small shamrocks 🍀
- Motor Development: Place shamrocks on contact paper
- Social Studies: Point out classmates wearing green 💚
- Art: Create marble art 🎨
It’s been a fun and festive week full of green, gold, and lots of learning! 🍀🌈💛
