Hop like a bunny has been a familiar game this week as we celebrate Easter. The children have had many activities centered around plastic eggs and they are loving them. They roll them, pull them apart, drop them down a cardboard tube, gather them in baskets, and explore them inside our large sensory tub. They have even tried on bunny ears and looked at themselves in a mirror – some loved it and some were not to sure about them. Nesting cups, balls in and out of muffin tins, puzzles, and stacking rings have been out for all to enjoy. The older ones were able to get outside and play for a little bit while practicing riding on the little bikes and tossing balls as far as they could do it. Painting on bubble wrap was part of their art activity and then most worked on getting the tape off of the high chair tray – double the fun! Squeezing sponges in a tub with some water practiced fine motor skills while also giving them a sensory activity that they love – water is always a huge hit. Plastic bunnies were out to pull apart and put back together. Books about Easter were read all week and we listened to fun songs as well. Peek-a-boo and bubbles kept the younger babies entertained and engaged, and we played with both of them all week long – they are really fascinated by what they are seeing. All listened to a bunny puppet tell some fun stories and they loved feeling it when story time was finished. What a fun way to usher in some spring time fun and we are all excited to see what next week will bring!
