What a week of dirt! We have had so much fun finding worms, ants and rolly polly bugs! Some of the friends even made homes for the bugs! They used leaves, sticks and small pieces of mulch to create “house” structures, even labeling “living room”, “kitchen” and “bedroom”. One of the homes even got a tv! The creativity is endless in this room! We had a vase of flowers on the art table one day and the children were asked to draw what they see. They did so well with using the colors of the flowers and the vase. They are beautiful drawings! We also made carrot pictures (learning that we the orange part actually grows UNDER the dirt, unlike most of the other vegetables we eat!. We made our own flower garden as we put the letters of our names on individual flower petals to create beautiful flowers. For math, we counted out gems as flowers and patterned and sorted flower petals. In the sensory bin, we played in dirt with shovels, pots and fake flowers! Oh the fun! Friday will be planting day! We will replant some tulips and hyacinth. We will also plant our cucumber and green beans seeds to watch them grow all summer long! We are looking forward to eating some healthy snacks soon! We hope everyone enjoys their long holiday weekend!
