Lakewood Child Care Center

Fall has arrived…and she is a little chilly! We are ready for the leaves to change (we learned all about the leaves losing their chlorophyll!) and how the weather changes (but we would also like some more warm days, too!). We made some apples, leaf pictures and acorns this week. We used leaves with letters on them to spell out our names and wrote letters in trays of fall sprinkles. For math, we patterned using lots of different leaves, apples, and pumpkins. One day, there were numbers written on paper apples and we tongs (to work our small muscles) and put small red blocks on the apples, according to the number it said. Our science table was full of nature to explore like buckeyes, acorns, leaves and more. The sensory bin was full of brown and black beans with leaves and leaves and leaves! We worked our hands by scooping and dumping and picking up individual leaves with our fingers. Group time brought us lots of stories and a few songs about apples. This week was also about the letter Cc. Be sure to ask your child about Cleo and Clyde the copycats! We got our pictures taken on Tuesday and we can’t wait to see how they turn out as our boys and girls looked their best with the brightest smiles! We got lucky with a lot of outside time. Out on the patio, we have been playing a lot of soccer (so many of our friends play on teams right now) and have been busy watching the construction. Did you know they have now built the stairs for the parking garage? Well, we knew because we watched! We will end our week with a music class and cutting various shaped pumpkins from orange paper. We are so ready to see what fall has in store for us!
