We had so much fun exploring nursery rhymes this week! We learned some new rhymes while also sharing and talking about the ones we already knew and loved. Nursery rhymes gave us so many wonderful opportunities to sing, move, learn, create, and practice new skills together.

We sang and acted out some of our favorite nursery rhymes, including “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” and “The Wheels on the Bus.” Some rhymes were especially fun because we used our hands and movements to act them out, while others we challenged ourselves to recite without using our hands. We had so much fun remembering the words, motions, and songs!  We incorporated lots of early literacy into our nursery rhyme theme. We practiced writing the names of nursery rhymes, worked on letter recognition, and created a Ff word list together. We also practiced writing Ff and identifying words that begin with the /f/ sound.

Our nursery rhyme fun continued into math! We made a spider ten frame to practice counting and number recognition. We also practiced writing the number 5 and worked on recognizing numbers through hands-on activities.  One of our favorite activities was counting out pretend “pumpkin seeds.” Each child chose a number card and then counted out the correct number of pumpkin seeds. This was a fun way to practice number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence, and number writing.

We had lots of fun getting creative this week, too! The children drew pictures of their favorite nursery rhymes, giving them an opportunity to use their imagination and share which rhymes they enjoyed the most.  We also practiced our fine motor and cutting skills by cutting out pumpkins. One of our special art projects was creating “Hickory Dickory Dock.” It was so much fun bringing one of our favorite nursery rhymes to life through art!

We also had a wonderful time during music with Ms. Carly! We had so much fun singing, dancing, and learning new ASL signs. The children loved moving along with the music and using their hands to learn new ways to communicate and express themselves. It was such a fun and engaging part of our week!

Overall, it was a wonderful week filled with singing, dancing, moving, creating, counting, writing, and learning. We loved watching the children build their confidence as they remembered familiar rhymes, learned new ones, and shared their ideas with their friends.

What a fun week of nursery rhymes, learning, and growing!
