Hanukkah! Hanukkah! Hanukkah…that is correct we took a step into other holidays to learn some new things. We understand that not everyone celebrates this holiday, but we love to learn about what other cultures enjoy celebrating. This week the children learned different facts about Hannukah which includes what a mennorah is and that it holds the candles which burn for 8 nights because way back when, that is how long the oil burned. The children worked on number and letter recognition activities as well as practicing their writing skills. We also dove into our fine motor skills and played with dreidels! If you have been hearing your child sing, “Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay” you’re welcome! It is a catchy tune and the children love to sing it. The children loved to spin and watch the dreidels go! The children dove into their creative sides and made the Star of David out of craft sticks, stamped with potatoes that had a star and a H for Hanukkah! The children also painted a dreidel using water colors. We came back to the Christmas spirit and had Polar Express Day! We got to wear our pajamas all day, watched the movies, drank hot chocolate and ate a cookie. We had a special guest….SANTA! Each child got a turn to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. We hope that the children had a wonderful week with us. For those who are starting their break early…we hope you have an amazing Christmas!
