Hello families and welcome back! We hope that everyone had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed some family time….we sure did! Now it is back to business here in the pre-k room. We came back to learn about out of this world…the classroom had a little makeover with huge planets on the wall at the science table! We also have this fun solar system carpet that the children played with at the block area. This week, the children worked on their letter recognition and their writing skills at the language table and worked with number recognition at the math table. The children used thier creativity by creating a planet from water colors and a coffee filter, stamping with stars, and creating the moon using white paint and foil. All week we practiced the order of the planets so take some time and ask if they can for you…this will surely test out if they were listening during group! We spent some time both indoors and outdoors for our gross motor activities. When it was raining this week, we practiced walking in a zig-zag, hopping in different size squares and balancing on the balance boards. While outside the children played soccer, basketball and badmitton with our toys. We took some time and watched how astronauts live up in space…boy sure is interesting to just float around all day. Well, sadly out of this world week has slowly come to an end and we hope the children learned a lot about our solar system! We hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
