Oh the places you’ll go…That’s right we celebrated Dr. Seuss all week long! We started off our week diving into the ocean with our one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish and then continued the week with other fun books such as The Lorax, The Best Nest, Bartholomew and the Oobleck and Fox in Socks. The children worked on their rhyming and letter recognition this week as well as their number recognition and measuring skills. We learned some fun facts about Dr. Seuss such as that he is not really a doctor, he just uses the name Dr. Seuss because his dad wanted him to be a doctor. We also learned that his love for rhyming words came from his mom who used to rhyme with him all the time. The children created their own hot air balloons, designed their own socks, made a fish and some truffula trees at art this week. At the science table, we were inspired by Sam I am and his Green eggs and Ham where we put baking soda in some green easter eggs and added vinegar to them to make them fizz. We learned about how The Lorax spoke for the trees and that we should take care of our trees so animals can have a home and food. We also worked on our letter of the week which was Vv. And to end this fabulous week (both on Thursday and Friday), our friends went to see the Gruffalo at Playhouse Square so don’t forget to ask how the show went. Also, we would like to wish Dr. Seuss a Happy Birthday!! We hope that you all have a fabulous weekend and we can’t wait to see what next week has in store for us.
