We dove under the sea this week with our theme as we explored different sea creatures and ocean animals. In language this week,, we read various books about the ocean and fish, looked at ocean words and pictures on our vocab board, colored the letter O with crayons, and placed ocean animals on felt boards. In math and science this week, we counted and placed pompoms on mermaid tails, counted ocean animal counters, mixed oil with blue water, and matched different colored fish to their colored fish bowl. In motor development this week, we fed fish to a paper bag shark, hopped on coral reef, used bingo daubers on an octopus, and manipulated waffle blocks. In art this week, we glued cheerios onto starfish, painted a paper plate fish, and made paper plate jellyfish. We also played with water animals in our sensory table and sang water related songs. Tomorrow we will play an ocean themed Simon says for language development, count seashells in math, make seashell prints with playdoh in motor development and paint with watercolors in art.
