This week we have been talking about Christmas, family traditions that we have, and what our favorite thing we like about Christmas. Most of the children said that their favorite thing is opening presents! We also have traditions here at school such as our Classroom elf comes to visit us each year, we have Polar Express Day, and Christmas Party in our classroom. Traditions are good because it give children something to look forward to and they know what to expect each year. They had so much fun on Polar Express Day because they got to wear their pajamas to school, drink hot cocoa, watch Polar Express movie, and our Christmas party we had after snack. Plus, Santa came to visit! Sparkles, our classroom elf went back to the North Pole to help his fellow elf friends get ready for Christmas. The children were sad but they understood they he has a job to do.
They had a fun week learning about Christmas traditions from their friends, they Christmas cookies with frosting and sprinkles, and of course, our Christmas party. While they were having fun, they also learned what sound the letter Pp makes and they made a huge lists of words that start with the letter Pp. They searched around the room for letter and they had to tell what words started with that letter. They wrote Christmas words and made a letter to Santa.
They made a Christmas tree out of blocks and they had to count how many blocks it took to make the Christmas tree. The children did Christmas lights patterning, practiced writing 15, they practiced counting verbally, and they are using the calendar to identify numbers higher than 10. I’ve been asking them what number comes before, after, and in between to see if they can figure out the number. The children have been using blocks to make different creations and they would ask me to take a picture. They would tell me what they built, what shapes they used, and how many blocks it took to make their creations.
They made some presents for their Mommy and Daddy, Christmas tree ornament, paper ornament, and a Christmas card. They had so much fun with this week’s art projects because they couldn’t wait to give their presents to Mommy and Daddy! I hope you enjoy the gifts that your children made because they were so excited to make something for their mommy and daddy!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and thank you so much for the gifts, treats, etc! It is greatly appreciated and we feel like we hit the jackpot because we have wonderful families! Thank you again!
