The children are getting excited for Christmas! Monday in art the children did some potato stamping to create lights! In language the children engaged in a pre-writing skill to connect dots; this also engaged their small muscles to work on pincer grip. In math, the children counted cookies on a plate and needed to match it to the corresponding number. The children also had a special guest reader, Nate’s mom came to read to the class. Tuesday in art the children cut wrapping paper and glued it to their paper, and in language the children matched lettered berries to the letters on a wreath. In math the children explored an elf visualization activity; with this activity they looked at pictures of groups of elves and they needed to see what they noticed that was different or the same about them. Wednesday in art the children did some bingo dabber, and marker color for a gift they are making for another classroom; they are the secret Santa for the classroom, so we can’t say too much…it’s a secret! Today we started the morning cutting wrapping paper and in math the children explored tracing numbers with pom-poms. In language the children matched lettered ornaments together. Then they watched The Polar Express, got hot chocolate and a cookie. The children then had a special visitor Santa!! Before nap today the children had another special visitor, Evie’s mom came and read a story to the class. Tomorrow in art the children will create candy cane prints, and in math they will engage in a path game to get the star to the top of the tree. In language the children will write letters in trays of sprinkles! In the dry table this week the children explored red and green crinkle paper with bells.
