This week’s theme was black history. In language development, we read various theme related books, colored on a poster board with markers, colored on dry erase boards with markers, and colored on peanut cutouts with colored pencils. In cognitive development, we sorted pompoms by color, added water and oils together for an experiment, matched colors to a traffic light, and counted peanut cutouts. In motor development, we laced beads, connected animals together, played Red Light, Green Light, and manipulated sound and sort stackers. In social and emotional development, we pretended to ride a bus a we sang Wheels on the Bus, and we identified different traits of each other by playing a “who has” game. In social studies, we read Little Heroes of Color and compared the similarities between us and them. In art, we finger painted, glued people on a bus, glued different colored tissue paper on a traffic light, and painted with colored shaving cream. In health and safety, we talked about different healthy foods and played games to go along with it. Tomorrow, we will write on magnetic writing boards for language, match numbers to a telephone for cognitive development, do shape puzzles for motor development, and decorate a trumpet in art.
