We love the visions of clovers, rainbows and gold! This week was all about St. Patrick’s Day because who says we only need one day? To begin our week, we discussed a little bit of the history behind the day. We learned that St. Patrick was taken away from his home when he was 16 and then he escaped from those individuals and went to Ireland years later where he taught people about the church and that unfortunately on March 17, he passed away. We explained to the children that we celebrate his life on March 17 even though he is no longer with us for all the good he did back then. Now, for the fun stuff this week, the children worked on letter recognition and writing activities at the language table as well as number recognition and subitizing at the math table. This week the children had a fun science experiment where they had to count how many coins could sink the pot. At art this week the children were creative by making a rainbow out of watercolors, creating a St. Patrick’s Day collage with stickers and stamps, making their own pot of gold and a yummy fruit loop rainbow necklace and of course creating a rip art version of the Irish flag. We also made our own Leprechaun trap and hope by Friday that we will have a leprechaun! We are almost through with the alphabet and this week was all about the letter Xx…not many words with Xx but we did our best! We sang our song, wrote words and read the book. We can’t wait to see the sea of green on Friday! We hope that the children enjoyed learning about St. Patrick’s Day and that you all have a safe and wonderful holiday!
