It’s gardening week and the children have been able to see some beautiful colors in the flowers that we have had around the room plus they have helped move dirt into our planter boxes to put plants in for them to enjoy all year long.  They then even helped water them!  Our older children have been outside every day riding bikes, tossing balls, playing with balls in soapy water, and doing some of their artwork at the easel.  Our younger babies have joined them sitting on a blanket watching everything that is moving around them, enjoying the warm breezes.  They have played with our plush gardening sets, learning about rakes, shovels, seeds and flowers.  Popsicle sticks were given to them to drop inside large juice bottles and some of our older children have figured out how to turn the bottles over to get them back out and that is very exciting for them!  They have crawled through our new tunnel and played peek-a-boo with a teacher on the other end.  Our lacing toys provide them the opportunity to strengthen those fine motor skills we are working on every day.  Those children that are preparing for their upcoming transition have been throwing their paper towels away after we are drying their hands, and they are learning to dump the food from their plates into a bin after lunch.   We all have been listening to books, watching puppets, and singing songs about the great outdoors and everything they see when they look outside our window.  The squirrels and birds have become a crowd favorite as they put on a show for us throughout the day.  It certainly has been a fun busy week, and we are excited to see what comes next!
