This week was a fun week because our theme was Super Hero.  We talked about fictional superheroes that the children are familiar with in movies, books, and cartoons.  They were able to name the superheroes and what they are famous for. We talked about who are real-life super heroes are such our moms and dads.  I asked them who else can be a super hero and we named doctors, firefighters, police officers. nurses, paramedics to name a few.  They help us in different ways such fixing our boo boos, bringing us home if we get lost, or putting out the fire.  Teachers can be superheroes because we do many things such as fixing boo boos, saving us from falling down, and the list goes on.  The children learned that anyone can be a superhero because we show kindness in different ways.

We did a dictation, “If I were a Superhero…”. The children had to finish the sentence, I wrote down what they said, and they drew pictures based on what they said.  They did a Super Hero Alphabet where they had to find the lowercase letter that matches the uppercase letter and clip using a clothes pin.  We did a superhero letter matching game where they had to figure out who the superhero is and find the beginning letter.   They practiced writing letters using letter cards

We did a Super Hero number matching where they had to count the masks and match it with the number.  They did a Super Hero Count and Cover by counting the dots on the dominos and placing them on top of the number.  The children used the Y connectors to make different shapes.   The children played Super Hero Bingo and they practiced writing numbers using number cards.

The children drew pictures of themselves as superheroes by using white paper and crayons.  They created their own superhero logo by using their choice of coloring paper and they used crayons or coloring pencils to make their logo.  They came up with their own superhero name and wrote it on the logo.

It was a fun week talking about superheroes and hearing what they would do if they were superheroes.  We talked about kindness and what can we do to show kindness to others.  We were able to come up with a list of things that we can do.  We learned that there are so many ways that we can show kindness to to others.
