It is a week of All About Me and we have included a lot of mirror play for this theme. The older children are trying their hand at pointing out body parts that they can see while looking at their reflection and our younger children have been practicing smiling at their reflection or at the teacher that they can see in the mirror along with themselves. Motor activities this week have included dropping rings into containers, pulling to standing with help, puzzles, reaching for toys that are above them, and dropping cars down our cardboard tube. Art activities have had them stamping, finger painting and coloring with chalk. Our language fun times have had them listening to books, songs, puppets, and consonant sound back and forth times with a teacher. They have had the chance to make their own music with shakers and maracas which most think is the coolest thing they have ever done. All the children have played with the sensory balls in some fashion and then some had an opportunity to “find” them once they were hidden under a cloth. Our older children are practicing their clean-up skills with music and they actually have a lot of fun doing it. It has been a busy week but it has been a lot of fun learning about ourselves and the environment around them.
