It is shapes and colors week, and it has been so much fun so far. They have played with blocks, bean bags, puzzles and read books about all the different shapes and colors that they see every day. Fine motor activities have included nesting cups, shape sorters, pulling sticks off of a tray and post it notes off of a wall. Music and art have had them shaking scarves to music, chalking on the wall outside, coloring on paper, and manipulating paint in baggies taped to our classroom wall. They have crawled through our classroom tunnel, practiced stacking blocks, used our lacing toy animals to explore in various different ways, and experienced touching and feeling balls of tape. All of the children have used the discovery boxes in their own way, with the older ones figuring out how to make the animals pop out on their own. Books about shapes and colors have been read with some being so silly and funny! Our older children play outside every day and practice gross development skills like walking with our push toys and they continue to enjoy the play wall that Ajia made for them. Fun week and now we are on to celebrating fall and everything this season brings.
