This week’s theme was weather. In language development this week, we read various books, looked at pictures and words on our weather vocab board, drew raindrops with blue crayons, drew snow with white crayons, drew cloud shapes and drew wavy, windy lines. In cognitive development this week, we counted raindrops and observed rain on youtube, matched snowflakes and talked about cold and ice, sorted clouds by size and watched cloud formations on youtube, and demonstrated wind with a fan. in motor development this week, we jumped on raindrops, manipulated pop-its, looked for snowflakes, shivered like snowflakes, placed cotton balls into containers, danced and moved like clouds, drop feathers to see them blow in the wind, and ran with scarves to catch the wind. In social and emotional development this week, we talked about different feelings using weather, and we dressed up for different weather scenarios. In art this week, we painted blue raindrops, used scissors to cut snowflakes, painted clouds with puffy paint, and glued tissue paper onto construction paper. In social studies this week, we talked about and watched different cultural rain dances. Tomorrow we will draw suns in language development, match sunny objects and use a flashlight in cognitive development, throw and catch yellow balloons and reach up to touch the sun in motor development, and paint a sun with yellow paint in art.
