It’s dinosaur week and we have had some fun activities around these mammoth creatures. There have been books read about them and pictures shown what they look like. Fine motor has been worked on by using our pull and go animals, animal stamping, puzzles, lacing toys and scribbling with crayons. They have looked at themselves in the mirror while we talked to them about what they see as well as different body parts that we are currently working on with them. They have been trying their hand at clapping, crawling, sitting, standing and walking – exhausting but well worth it! Balls have been a huge hit this week and all the motor skills that come with them (throwing, kicking, rolling). Songs have been sung about dinosaurs while they practiced marching and peek-a-boo as been enjoyed by all. Our room tent is still an ongoing source of fun and excitement that makes it all the more fun when there is a lot of friends in there at one time. They have used scarves to move to music and also used to play peek-a-boo. It has been a great week to talk about these animals from long ago and now we move into the holiday’s for the rest of our December themes!
