It’s artist week throughout the center so we have had a week of color, art and fun! Our older children have practiced coloring with chalk and crayons – learning the concepts of up and down to make marks. They have dropped clothespins into juice bottles and have figured out different ways to use the peg boards. They have watched several puppet shows and have moved their bodies to familiar songs, with Wheels on the Bus, being a group favorite. Puzzles have been out to explore as well as the busy boxes, all helping them strengthen fine motor skills that are needed for them to start using their spoons at meals. We gave them paper bags to try and get toys out of, which was a big hit for all. Our smallest babies have had tummy time while watching our electric aquarium lights and fish swim by to help hold their attention. They have also been lying next to other and watching each others faces – it has been fun to watch them discover each other! It has been a week of surprising discoveries and lots of smiles! We are looking forward to next week!
