Happy Spring and it happens to be our theme for this week.  We talked about we know about Spring such as the flowers start to bloom, the buds start forming on the tree branches, the animals come out of hibernation, and we can start planting flowers, fruits, and vegetables.  The children asked me when will it get warmer because they didn’t want to wear their jackets outside.  We talked about why it takes time for the weather to get warm.  One of the children said, “Maybe it takes time for the sun to warm Earth”, another said, “I think that it’s too soon for the weather to warm up because Spring just got here,” but we all agreed that the weather will warm up eventually.

We went to Safe Harbor Animal Rescue to drop off the donated items.  Thank you to those who donated!  I’m sure the dogs will be happy to have the items!  The children got to see the inside of the rescue and see the dogs.  The highlight of their day was seeing all the chickens!  It was all they talked about when we got back to the center.

We made shapes using geoboards and rubber bands, they did a flower patterning activity, counting out 27 blocks,  They crated flowers using unifex cubes.  We did number recognition up to 30.

The children did an activity where they put the letters alphabetical order, writing Spring words, and we did sight word recognition.  The children practiced writing letters using the magic writing board.  We did a rhyming word activity where I gave a word and they had to tell me what words rhyme.

We made an Ink Blot cloud putting white paint on blue paper, holding it in half, spreading the paint around a little, and thein opening up the paper to reveal the design.  We made the Very Hungry Caterpillar, and 3-D flowers in art.  We had music with Ms. Carly as well!  We love it when she comes because we love learning new songs and ASL signs.

Please make sure your child has a warm jacket that zips up until it warms up.  Any extra stuff in the cubby you don’t think your child needs, you can take it home.
