Grab your hard hats and safety vests….this week was all about construction. We had a fun filled week discussing construction and working on different activities dealing with construction. Our field trip on Tuesday was a great way to start where we went to Little Diggers! The children were able to dig in the sand using shovels and excavators to create holes and even found some dinosaur bones! In the classroom the children worked on different letter recognition activities, constructing letters with craft sticks and writing out construction words. At the math table the children worked on number recognition activities, counting and building towers, and constructing numbers with craft sticks as well. During group time, we discussed any construction that the children have seen on their way to school…sounds like a lot…and many of the sites have excavators…but I guess tis’ the season for construction! The children were creative at the art table where they created their own construction truck using scrap pieces of paper, using construction trucks to create tracks, and painting with gears. We worked on some fine motor skills this week by using tongs to pick up small objects and placing washers onto screws. At science, the children were given wooden sticks to construct what they want. Oh, not to mention, we planted green beans and we were able to pick and eat them this week! We will end this week by going to Bradley Woods Park and our friend from H20 to come on Friday. We hope the children had fun this week even though there was rain. More fun to have next week! We hope you all have a fun filled weekend!
