WELCOME BACK! This week has been a week of getting back into the school groove. We started this week with transitions where our preschool friends came over to spend time with us along with 6 new friends that have never been to the center before! Wednesday it was official, our friends are pre-kers! This week was all about learning the rules of our classroom for both our friends that came over form preschool along with our 6 new friends. Everyone has been getting a long and includes each other in play. This week the children worked on letter recognition, writing our names and playing BINGO! We also learned a little bit more about our friends and what they would like to learn in pre-k. At the math table, the children worked on sorting, creating patterns and number recognition activities. We started the week off a little wet and had to play inside but once the weather became nice, we were out there twice in the morning and once in the afternoon! The children became creative at the art table by designing their own pencil, creating a rip art apple, a crayon out of a craft stick and a school bus using yellow and black construction paper. We have been working on some self help skills such as pushing in our chairs, cleaning up before leaving an area and making sure we close the bathroom door so our friends don’t see us while we are in there. This is an adjustment period for everyone…we will continue to work on rules of the classroom as our friends continue on with us. We hope the children have enjoyed their first few days in pre-k. We can’t wait to have more fun with our friends as we continue on in the year. We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!
