It’s already time for the school year with new friends, a few new changes to the room and we are ready for a great year. Monday in art the children explored painted with tempera paint and in language the children traced their names with foam shapes. In math the children sorted animal counters by color. Tuesday in art the children painted with watercolors and in language they matched letters to their names. In math the children sorted people counters by size. Wednesday in art the children explored painting with paintbrushes and two colors, lots of busy painting and friends taking their time to create. In language the children dictated what their favorite part of preschool is and in math they did some fine motor work to string shapes and count how many they added. Today in art, the children wanted to paint again with the paintbrushes so they chose 2 different colors to work with today, In language the children matched lettered apples to letters on a tree and in math they added shapes to a back pack using a die to tell how many to add each turn. Tomorrow in art the children will practice cutting, and glue their cut paper to another paper. In language the children will look at various books to come up with school words and practice writing, or tracing them. In math the children will engage in a path game to get the bus to the school. In the sensory table this week the children worked with water, funnels, small cups and bottle. In the block area we started with bristle blocks, and learned some new friends like trains and we added trains and tracks. Today we added ramps when we noticed the children rolling the cylinder blocks on the floor. We have also added a special area to the room, it’s the children’s choice table. Each day the children can choose what materials they’d like to work with of buckets that are available, and take to the table. We have seen a lot of cooperative play here and creativity.
