Lakewood Child Care Center

The theme is Fall this week and we are getting to experience the weather that best fits this season, either by playing in it or watching it out our big classroom window.  The babies have been busy listening to books about leaves and their colors, while painting with those colors on fall objects.  The older children have also tried their hands at coloring with crayons and finger painting while standing or sitting at the easel.  The younger children explored bubble wrap and sensory rings.  Scarves have been out and used for movement to music, pulled out of a container and to play peek-a-boo.  We are working on safe hands and how to be gentle by showing them how to be nice to the baby dolls.  Those same dolls have been used for facial body part recognition.  All have watched puppets, bubbles, and movement songs.  They have been practicing fine motor skills by dropping items into juice bottle and down a large cardboard tube.  Shape sorters and nesting cups have been explored as have the many different sized balls.  Stacking, climbing, laughing, singing and reading has been taking place all week as we usher in this new season and next week promises to be just as much fun.
