This week the children have been exploring books and activities in relation to various countries around the world. Monday in art the children tried out some splatter painting and in language the children matched greeting words of greeting from other countries. In math the children traced numbers with foam shapes. Tuesday in art the children did some noodle art, gluing macaroni noodles on paper. In language the children dictated how to make spaghetti and in math the children engaged in a concentration game with flags from around the world. Wednesday in art the children painted with glitter paint and in math they weighed items to see what was heavier and lighter. Today in art the children did some roller painting, painting with fun designed rollers. In language the children tossed bean bags on lettered plates and identified the letter the bean bag landed on. In math the children did some pumpkin shadow matching. Tomorrow in art the children will paint and glue ghosts and in language they will look at pictures from around the world and talk about them. In math the children will add pepperoni to their pizza. In the sensory table this week the children explored rice with veggie counters, scoops and bowls. The children have also been interested in putting together tracks for cars and they explored some Picasso tiles with so many pieces! Ms. Holle brought in a smaller set of wooden tracks with trains and they are so busy with these materials. In drama the children continue to explore the cash registers and bring food to each other. We have also added a high chair to the baby area and will be adding more materials as we go.
