We live in the Cleveland area and we experience ALL the weather….sometimes all in the same week! We discussed all the different types of weather we can have here. We have rain, wind, clouds, snow, sun and sometimes two or three types in one day! Our favorite weather is when we get to go outside! Not too hot, not too cold and definitely NOT storming! On Monday, we made raindrops. Tuesday was a windy hair day. Wednesday was full of clouds. Thursday was snow (but not for real!) and Friday will be full of sunny skies! For math, we counted clouds and raindrops. We also played a path game through the weather. For some language, we told what clothes to wear that were appropriate for the weather and then our reasoning behind our answer. We also learned all about the letter Ii as we used “raindrops” to trace the letters written on paper. Our sensory bin has been filled with “rainwater”. We scooped, dumped, and funneled the water all week. The science table has gotten some additional sensory bottles for the weather: a sunny bottle, a cloudy bottle, a rainy bottle and even a lightening bottle. It was fun to explore and see similarities and differences in the bottles. The block area sure has gotten busy! We have been adding construction to it! We first added lots of new trucks. Now (with the help of generous donations) we have wood scraps, pipes and clamps. We will need a bigger classroom if this continues! We can make one ourselves with all the experience we have! Our outdoor fun has been consisting of raking leaves and then jumping in them! We have gotten lucky with the weather this week!
