It is weather week, a week filled with activities and stories about different types of weather. Monday in art the children glued cotton to paper to make clouds and in math the children explored a 1 to 1 correspondence grid with colored gems. In language the children practiced writing letters on chalkboards. Tuesday in art the children painted with paint scrapers using all the colors of the rainbow. In math the children did rainbow pattern beading and in language the children matched lettered mittens. Wednesday in art the children painted fall colors with forks and in language they practiced more letter writing on chalkboards. In math the children engaged in a snowman concentration activity. Today children explored play dough and in language they [practiced writing different weather words. In math the children sorted letters by curvy, straight or both. Tomorrow in art the children will create turkey sun catchers and in math they will work with number sense rain drops. In language the children will trace lower case letters with pom poms. In the sensory table this week we tried out watching a block of ice melt and noticed how handling it, and squirting warn water on it helped it melt. The drama area has been transitioned into a movie theater! This afternoon we will introduce it and go over how to take care of the materials. Miss Brenda has been so kind to let us borrow some of her popcorn materials so we want to take extra care of them fr her. Each week we will add a little more to the area. The children have been very interested in watching the construction trucks outside and today we took extra time to go outside and watch and we will continue to do this each chance we get.
