This week has been all about the fun that friends can have with each other. We also decided giving Valentines to those we love, includes those friends. We have had many discussions about how to be a good friend, not just give a Valentine. We can share, take turns, hold doors, say “excuse me” and “thank you”, invite to play, ask to give a hug, talk or listen, or just sit next to a friend in need. We made lots of Valentine and heart art this week. For math, we counted, sorted and did a quick game of “minute-to-win-it” where each of the children had to wear two mittens and count how many conversation hearts they could pick up in that one minute time limit. For language activities, we have been busy putting letters on envelopes (pretend Valentines) and mailing them away. We also found the letters h-e-a-r-t in a heart full of letters. We have also heard many Valentine stories and learned the history of Valentines day (and that not everyone celebrates it!). The sensory bin has been filled with pink, red, purple and white shredded paper, hearts, Valentine words and small rubber ducks. We passed out Valentines on Thursday. It only took us 50 minutes to do it this year…record timing! As always, we have been going upstairs to our favorite window to watch the construction going on across the street. The letter of the week is “Ss” and we thought of A LOT of words that begin with that letter. We talked about the difference of a “big” S and a “little” s (also called upper and lower case letters). We have some of the lowercase “s” in our names and we know it sounds like a snake! We are getting so good at this alphabet and letter/sound recognition thing! The highlight of the week was honestly getting outside! We got out TWICE on Tuesday and once on Wednesday! Wow! It was SO nice to get out in the fresh air and play! Here’s wishing everyone a happy Valentine’s Day! 😍
