It has been a week all about our teeth – it has been a great way to continue to show them how to brush their teeth. Our older children (0ver a year) get a toothbrush every day, with water on it to practice how to brush. We have been stressing the word teeth and then listening for imitation from them in return. Other activities this week have included pounding benches, scribbling with chalk, painting with toothbrushes, dropping rings into containers, and shaking sensory bottles. They have been given colorful ribbons to shake to some fun music while the youngest babies have had a chance to hold onto them and watch the ribbons move when waved in front of them. Shape sorters and nesting cups have been out to practice size and patterns while many of them are figuring out how to balance blocks on top of other ones. They have listened to books about their teeth and going to the dentist. Our older children have had several chances to go outside and get some fresh air during this brief warm up. Tummy time is being worked on while reaching for some fun, colorful toys in front of them. They have watched bubbles, observed outside while sitting and watching out the big window, and watched faces while we talked to them one on one. We have had a busy classroom this week but the children were loving every minute of all the new and exciting ways to learn and observe.
