A theme week about authors has brought so many different books into the classroom so it has been a fun week focusing on storytelling.  The book playoff started as well, so we have been listening to a wide variety of different books, some they have a little more excited about that others.  We also enjoyed stories in different ways when we brought out the flannel board and puppets, as well as different stuffed animals that represented some of the main characters in our books.  They have listened to stories that have been turned into songs which is always a reason for dancing regardless of the words, as long as it has a fun beat!  They have matched containers and the lids that go with them, pulled yarn through a hole in the top of a coffee can lid, and assembled simple one piece puzzles.  Busy boxes, pom poms in a whisk, dropping items into baskets and down a tube, and stacking different items have kept our fingers busy. The littlest ones have been practicing reaching for toys that are hanging above them and have watched themselves in a mirror while lying on their bellies.  Art has seen them chalking, coloring, and finger painting.  Crawling, standing, sitting, and rolling have been happening consistently with other activities, and watching them accomplish something they have been trying to do, is so much fun.  It has been a week about books, but it has also brought lots of discovery and exploration.  Next week, here we come!
