This week, we learned about Dental Health and how important it is for us to take care of our teeth. We talked about the steps that we take to brushing our teeth and how we prepare for our visit to the dentist. Most of the children said that the dentist isn’t scary and that their dentist is very nice. We talked about the different dental tools that we see and that their dentist have used on them.
We made a Uu word list and the children learned what sounds each letter makes. We did a tooth match letter game where they matched the uppercase letters to the lowercase letters, they sorted which foods are good and bad for teeth, they practiced writing dental words, and we made la list of dental words that made them think of what dental health means.
They did a tooth roll and cover game where they had to roll the dice, find the number and cover it with a bingo marker. They practiced writing numbers, We made a graph where the children had to guess how many teeth they and and two of the children guessed that they had 20 baby teeth which is correct.
We painted with toothbrushes on white paper and they were able to choose blue for dirty teeth or white for clean teeth. We did a dental floss art project where they dipped the dental floss, placed it on paper that was folded in half, and they had to pull the floss from the bottom. Finally, we made a mouth with teeth using construction paper and marshmallows. Everything was fun and messy!
Please make sure to keep your child’s snow gear here until we know that it won’t snow any more. We all know that Ohio weather is very unpredictable! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out!
