Hearing, seeing, touching, smelling and tasting! You guessed it…it is 5 five senses week! We did many fun activities this week that dealt with using our senses. At the language table, the children used their sense of touch to determine what magnetic letter they had…that’s right, they were not allowed to look so we put a blindfold on them. I will say, they did pretty well at this task. They worked on ABC matching by using the lock and keys and telling us what they like to see, smell, touch, taste and hear. At the math table, the children worked on number recognition activities and creating Mr. Potato head! Art has been fun this week because they children got to use all their senses. They began the week by painting with jell-o…that’s right, jell-o! They were able to smell and look at the jell-o while painting with it. The children also colored to the tempo of music. If the music went fast, the children colored faster and when the music went slow, they colored on their paper slower. This week the children also worked on the letter Ww. We came up with Ww words, read a Ww book and sang a Ww song. We also tested the friends hearing by playing a “Guess that animal sound” game on the I-pad. At the end of the week, we will do our annual skittle tastes test and determine which friends know their skittles. But with this, the children have to close their eyes so they can’t see the color and pinch their nose so they can’t smell the skittle either so they have to rely on their sense of taste. We hope that the children enjoyed their week of using their senses. We have more fun coming next week! Hope you have a fun and safe weekend!
