What’s your favorite thing to do when the weather gets warmer? You go outside and dig for bugs!! Well Miss Chasity does when she is with her nephews! This week was all about bugs and insects. We started out the week learning that bugs are insects but not all insects are bugs. In order to be an insect, you need 6 legs, a head, thorax and abdomen with 2 antennae. If you don’t have that then you are a bug but if you have 8 legs…you are considered an arachnid like a spider! This week the children worked on letter recognition and their writing skills as well as played some Bug BINGO. At math, the children worked on their sorting, measuring and counting skills using bugs/insects. The children became creative at the art table by making dragon flies, caterpillars, and butterflies. We also got our caterpillars last week and learned the word metamorphosis which is the process of changing. The caterpillars are still growing and hope to make their cocoon soon! We spent a lot of time outside this week…rain can’t stop us!! (Unless it rains to hard!). We also started our Circus practice this week…we can’t wait for the big show! The children have been enjoying our digging area out on the patio…we hope to soon start planting some things in the garden as well. We hope the children enjoyed learning about different bugs and insects this week. We hope you all have a fun and wonderful weekend!!
